AZERTY Global is free, open source and run by the AMCF.
Donations go to the AMCF, an association under the French loi 1901, and are collected by HelloAsso. Microsoft is not the collector, even if you installed AZERTY Global from the Microsoft Store.
Why support the AMCF?
AZERTY Global is free, ad-free, free of advertising tracking and open source under the EUPL 1.2 (in French) license. Co-founded in 2017 by Robert Hodge and Antoine Olivier, it has been developed by Antoine Olivier since 2018; the Association pour la Modernisation du Clavier Français (AMCF, the Association for the Modernization of the French Keyboard), an association under the French loi 1901 founded in March 2026 in Clermont-Ferrand, officially runs it.
Its missions:
- Develop and distribute free and open-source keyboard layouts
- Raise awareness among schools, companies and institutions
- Produce educational resources and guides
- Collaborate with research to study how the layout is used
The association operates in full transparency: every euro received is reinvested in the project.
What your support funds
Your donations fund
- Technical tools: domain names, hosting, development software
- On-the-ground presence: tech and general-public events, demo equipment (foldable keyboards with AZERTY Global stickers)
- Communication: online advertising and partnerships to make the project known
- Scientific studies: evaluating the effects of the layout on fatigue, speed and ergonomics, without presuming the results

Join the team
AZERTY Global is run by a very small team. To go further, we are looking for motivated volunteers in these areas:

Technical co-maintainer
Maintain the website, the online tester and the app. Profile: web or fullstack developer, comfortable with Git and GitHub.
