Software compatibility
AZERTY Global works with the vast majority of software. Here are the rare cases where an adjustment may be needed.
Why do some conflicts exist?
On Windows, AltGr sends Ctrl+Alt to the system. Modern applications (Word, Excel, browsers) correctly tell the two apart. A few Java- or Electron-based apps confuse them, which can block certain AltGr characters. The solution is always the same: remap the conflicting shortcut.

VS Code — 2 conflicts
Fix: Ctrl+K Ctrl+S

Or add an unbound entry in keybindings.json.

Video games
The ² key (game console)
AZERTY Global replaces ² with @ on the key to the left of 1. The impact depends on how the game detects the console key:
-
By scancode (physical position): the console works normally.
✅ Skyrim, Fallout 4, Counter-Strike 2, CS:GO. -
By character (virtual key): the console may not open.
⚠️ Older Source Engine games (Garry's Mod, TF2, Portal), some Unreal Engine and Unity games.
Solutions: rebind the console in the game's INI file, or switch to the traditional AZERTY with Win+Space.
Smart Caps Lock
AZERTY Global's Caps Lock only affects letters. Games detect the key press, not the Caps Lock state: no known impact, including in MMOs and FPS games that rebind Caps Lock (WoW, Valorant).
Anti-cheat
Behavior depends on which Windows channel you use. Both options remain local and reversible, but they don't work the same way under the hood.
Classic EXE / MSKLC installer
This channel installs a standard Windows keyboard layout, with no AZERTY Global application hook. It's the most neutral channel if you often play anti-cheat protected games.
Microsoft Store app
The app uses a local keyboard hook to remap keystrokes after sign-in. It never logs, stores or transmits any keystroke, doesn't inject a DLL into games, and voluntarily pauses itself on some anti-cheat protected games to reduce any ban risk.
If in doubt with a competitive game, use the classic installer or disable the Microsoft Store app with Ctrl+Shift+Caps Lock.
Tips
Switch quickly
Win+Space instantly switches between AZERTY Global and your traditional AZERTY.
Remap shortcuts
Replace Ctrl+Alt+letter with Ctrl+Shift+letter in the software's settings.
